Praised for his "smooth acrobatic tone, fierce finesse" and "virtuoso dynamics" (The Millbrook Independent - New York), Mexican-American clarinetist, Elias Rodriguez made his solo debut at the age of 16, after performing on the National Public Radio show, "From the Top." Since then Elias has performed internationally throughout the Americas and Europe, including a 3-year artist residency at La Fondation des États-Unis in Paris, France, where he also served as a guest with Ensemble Calliopée and performed solo for the United States Embassy France. Other engagements include work with Nu Deco Ensemble, and concerts on New York's WQXR as a concerto soloist with The Orchestra Now, with whom he performed on the stages of Jazz at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall in New York City. From 2021 to 2022, Elias toured with the American wind quintet, WindSync (gold medalists of the international Concert Artists Guild competition for artist management).

“Rakı Havası for Woodwind Quintet and Optional Davul was commissioned by WindSync in 2019. The work is inspired by the celebratory drinking tunes and dances of the northwest region of Turkey. Rakı is Turkey's national alcoholic drink and mainly produced from the grapes and aniseed of the region. This drink does not only influence the human body but has also influenced the folk music of the region with super cheerful and explosively energetic music in 9/8 meter. For an authentic performance, drinking by the performers is recommended, but for an accurate performance, maybe not.”

--Erberk Eryılmaz, 2020

WINDSYNC
United States Tour Aug. 2021 - May 2022

"WindSync is a collective of five outstanding North American wind musicians who come together as performers, educators, and community-builders. WindSync concerts are intimate, joyful, and thoughtfully programmed with people and places in mind. The quintet eliminates the "fourth wall" by performing from memory, connecting quickly and memorably with audiences. Recent winners of the Concert Artists Guild and Fischoff competitions, they approach their mixed repertory of wind quintets and arrangements with the highest level of artistic dedication."
